There are essentially four types of residence permits:
- Investor visa for company founders
- Family visa for relatives
- Employee visa
- “Gold Visa” for property owners
The validity of residence permits varies from two to ten years, but can easily be extended.
Naturalization and obtaining citizenship of the UAE is generally not possible.
A UAE residency visa entitles you to stay and work in the United Arab Emirates, and is not tied to a minimum stay. Only one entry is necessary every 180 days in order to maintain the status as a resident.
The easiest way to obtain a residence permit and a tax-free residence in Dubai is to incorporate a company in one of the free trade zones. Depending on the office and industrial space, a certain number of residence permits for shareholders and employees can be issued and thus entitles the holders to take up residence.
